NEW MUSIC! LeToya - Lazy [Full]

Earlier today Amazon made a huge mistake when they accidently put the Japanese version of LeToya's sophomore album "Lady Love" up for sale. They quickly realised their mistake and removed it, but not fast enough to stop a few people ripping the previews and purchasing the album. Now tracks are leaking left and right so here's the full version of a song called "Lazy" that's been availble in snippet form since last year.

This song is amazing. I've been obsessed with the snippet for months and I'm so happy to have it in full now. Vocally Toya sounds fantastic, especially at 3:09 when she belts out. I love the way she is singing about something so painful, but she's doing it in such a powerful and aggressive way instead of the usual fragile ballads that you'd hear for this type of song. I think people love LeToya so much because she sings about the type of things that you can really relate to, and she does it in such a real and honest way, so I think a lot of people will really be feelin' this. Love it.

NEW MUSIC! Kandi Feat Rick Ross & Rasheeda - I Like Him!

About a week ago I reported that former Xscape star, "Don't Think I'm Not" singer, and newest member of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Kandi Burass was planning a musical comeback with a new album titled "B.L.O.G.". Well now she's just dropped a new track "I Like Him" which is rumoured to be her new single. Check out the Rick Ross/Rasheeda featured joint below.

This is hot! It's so refreshing to hear a female R&B singer putting out some real urban music as opposed to all this pop and dance rubbish that everyone is doing. Kandi's vocals sound fantastic and as usual Rick Ross slays the track. It's also good that she got her former PeachKandi bandmate Rasheeda on the track because it really adds some Southern flavour. I'm definitely checkin' for her new album now!

BEEF! Eminem fires back at Mariah... and he's goin' HARD!

Eminem has fired back at Mariah Carey in a shocking new diss record which is the official response to her new single "Obsessed". Eminem labels the diva an alcoholic liar and reveals explicit details of their alleged relationship. Check it out below.

Bitch motherfucker God Damn! Now I can see why Mariah backtracked over "Obsessed" and pretended that it wasn't actually about Em. He really went hard on this, and although I despise this loser I have to admit that he's really ripped her to shreds. I still don't know if their relationship really happened, but I did always suspect that it was true, and obviously after hearing this I believe it even more because so much fucked up shit must go on behind the closed doors of Hollywood, things we could never even imagine.

I still love and respect Mariah though because she's a lady, not a scumbag like Em, but I hope she doesn't do this "Oh it wasn't about him" bull, she needs to fire back. She has class so I think she'll turn the other cheek, but she needs to acknowledge this at least, she can't just act like her "Obsessed" video never happened. She needs to finish what she started. One positive to come out of this is that Mimi's underperforming new single is probably set to shoot up the charts now, and this is probably exactly what she needed to shoot some life into the "Memoirs..." era.

DIVA ALERT! Whitney Houstons STUNNING chart comeback!

Exactly one week after it leaked online, Whitney Houston's new single "I Look To You" has stormed into the R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart debuting at an impressive #27. It's also the most added song to radio in both the urban and urban Adult Contemporary formats.

Not only that, but Whitney's upcoming album has already reached #4 on Amazons top sellers list where it continues to rise each day with more and more pre-orders flooding in.

Whitney is also set to premiere her other new single "Million Dollar Bill" soon, with plans for the song to be sent out to both pop and urban formats.

You can currently download "I Look To You" for free from the singers website. Look out for the album, also titled "I Look To You", to be released August 31st after it was recently moved forward to make the Grammy deadline.

OMG this is huge! I can't believe she managed to debut at #27 on the proper R&B chart after only a week of her single being leaked, I'm shocked. I know that her radio play has been going through the roof and she's already reached between 10 and 15 million audience impressions so that obviously has something to do with it since the song isn't available for purchase yet. This really proves the haters wrong and shows that people still really care about Whitney and her music. She's off to such a good start and this is only the beginning. These young bitches better run and hide because Whitney is slaying right now!

MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE! Eva Simons - Silly Boy!

I wasn't going to post this because I think it's garbage and I've had enough trashy dance music after hearing Madonna's new single, but due to popular demand from my readers I'm putting this up lol.

Remember a while back when a rumoured demo of a duet between Lady GaGa & Rihanna leaked? Well surprise surprise it wasn't them, it was actually a singer called Eva Simons, and the controversy ended up getting the song, titled "Silly Boy", over 10 million plays on Youtube and worldwide press coverage. Thanks to the buzz Eva has now released it as a single and dropped a video clip, so check it out below.

Swagga Jacka alert! This is nothing more than a z-grade Lady GaGa rip off, and she probably did it on purpose to keep the controversy fuelling the song because without it nobody would even care. She didn't even try and hide it because I swear GaGa has worn some of these exact outfits before. NEXT!

UNSIGNED TALENT! Airto...

Here's an unsigned artist that I've been following on YouTube for the past few years now, and I thought since it's so slow for news today that I may as well do a post on him.

Airto (pronounced a-year-tow) is a Soul/R&B singer from the Netherlands. I'd probably describe his voice as sounding similar to James Morrison, but it also reminds me a little of Chrisette Michele. just not as deep. His music is very stripped back and raw, and he does a lot of covers but also writes and arranges his own originals.

Here are three songs of his I chose to show you. Check out his covers of Michael Jackson's "Gone Too Soon", Gavin DeGraws "In Love With A Girl", Drake's "Best I Ever Had".

NEW MUSIC! Whitney Houston - I Look To You [HQ] [New Single]

UPDATE
HQ VERSION ADDED

So I posted this earlier as the radio rip but I've now updated the post with the full HQ of Whitney Houston's new joint "I Look To You", which was written by R Kelly and co-produced by Tricky Stewart. Word that this may be the official first single and replace the Swizz Beats/Alicia Keys club banger "Million Dollar Bill". Check it out below.

Stunning. I can't believe what a different it makes having it in HQ. Whitney's voice is absolutely beautiful, and the slight flaws that it has now just add character and depth. This is a really powerful record and I feel like Whitney's new album may be one of the biggest and most important of her whole career. I'm loving the way that her new songs are so personal, and I feel like they're really letting people know who she is and what she's been through.

YAY! Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri are STILL TOGETHER!

Despite reports from Us Weekly that the pair had split, it looks like Janet Jackson and her partner of 7 years Jermaine Dupri are still very much together.

Bow Wow confirmed the news via one of live Twitter Ustream chats, and by confirmed I mean threw a tantrum like a two year old screaming at blogs for lying about him and his family, obviously forgetting that it was Us Weekly and not a blog who started it in the first place.

I guess he's still sore over his beef with blog queen Sandra Rose?

Anyways I'm glad that they're still together. JD is a cornball but he's good to Janet so that's all that matters.

New-Song-Monica-let-me-know-first.

Monica has been in the studio for the better part of 2 years cooking up her latest LP 'Still Standing' (due October 13th via J Records). Today, saw the surfacing of the record's first single 'Let Me Know' - which was produced by Missy Elliott and written by Monica's label mate Jazmine Sullivan.

As regards the track itself, it has pleasant 'groove' to it, which makes it's debut on the brink of summer oh-so apt. That said, I'm not really sure it's lead single worthy...or even single worthy to be frank. Missy's banshee screaming is the epitome of hot mess. Totally unnecessary. I've been hoping the otherwise awesome Elliott would have stopped it ever since I heard her scream all over poor Tweet's 'Turn The Lights Off' 4 years ago. SMH...

Hit or Miss?

Whitney Houston Album Preview

Whitney Houston Album Preview
Diva Whitney Houston poses it up with singer Alicia Keys at the New York listening session for her hotly anticipated 'I Look To You' album yesterday. Keys, who penned a track for the album, was one of several celebrities in the house to listen to the album playback. Our friend Clay Cane over at BET also attended the event. Check out his lengthy report below:
Last night, the legendary Clive Davis hosted a listening session for Whitney Houston’s new album I Look To You, which is in stores September 1st. Held at Jazz @ Lincoln Center in New York City, the event was packed with stars like Martha Stewart, Gayle King, Dionne Warrick, Alicia Keys (in the house with Swizz Beats!) LA Reid, Andre Harrell, Diane Sawyer, BET’s own Debra Lee and Stephen Hill – and the iconic Whitney Houston, who was absolutely stunning. She looked happy, grateful and beautiful. When Whitney hit the stage for a small speech the person next to me said,”That’s m*thaf**kin’ Whitney Houston!“ The diva received a standing ovation from a crowd (and the world!) who has been waiting for the return of the original pop-soul diva.

I was lucky enough to attend and here is a preview of the seven new tracks that were played (two leaked tracks were played, “Like I Never Left” featuring Akon and “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster). I wasn’t able to catch every producer’s name or the exact lyrics so the credits are subject to change. Note: Clive Davis did stress the songs were still being polished.

1. “Million Dollar Bill” (written and produced by Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats)

An up-tempo, joyful track about love and probably one of the funkiest songs Whitney has ever done. “Million Dollar Bill” has an amazing bass line and almost recalls early Michael Jackson in Off The Wall. The catchy hook, “You make me feel like a million dollar bill.” Her vocal is strong with some power notes toward the end. The song has an Alicia Keys sound but fits for Whit — it’s current without making her seem like she is trying to compete with teenagers. The song received a standing ovation.

2. “Nothin’ But Love” (produced by Danja)

Whitney’s shout out to those who her love her and those who hate on her, she’s got “Nothin’ But Love” for all of them. Completely up-tempo and definitely an R&B club track that has the potential of sounding even hotter with a remix. The vocal stays around her lower register and, again, holds some classic Nippy notes at the end.

3. “Call You Tonight” (produced by Stargate)

Fun, mature and a song everyone can relate to. Heavily produced and while it can be tough to adjust to a pure vocalist like Whitney sing to a production heavy song, the mid-tempo track works for this album. “Call You Tonight” sounds like one of the better tracks from Just Whitney. Some lyrics include, “Destiny, I believe in it” and “I wish I could stay but I got to go, I’ll call you tonight.”

4. “Salute” (written and produced by R. Kelly)

Whitney is saying goodbye to a lover who has done her wrong, but she is letting go with no anger and confidently sings, “I salute you.” Could she be channeling Bobby Brown? The song is strictly R&B and almost sounds similar to “Heartbreak Hotel” from the My Love Is Your Love album. More instruments than production with keys and a strong vocal from Whitney. One line, “You think you know everything, you think your sh*t don’t stink.”

5. “I Look To You” - R. Kelly

Say what you want about R. Kelly but the man can still make a good R&B song. “I Look To You” is the title track and my favorite song so far. Beautiful lyrics like, “As I lay me down, heaven hear me now.” Her voice is deeply powerful, channeling classic Whitney with a pop sense but an R&B vocal. This song proves that she has not lost her voice and it’s definitely a melody I cannot wait to hear live. Whitney clearly feels every line and chord, charging through the ballad, transcending her own experience and reaching others who have been through adversity. Whitney has been criticized for not being emotional enough in her music — this track knocks out that complaint. From where I could see, Bobbi Kristina, Whitney’s daughter, was getting emotional during the song.

6. “Worth It” (R. Kelly)

“This song is for the lovers…” is one of the lines. Youthful and radio friendly, another R&B track. Nothing much to add about this one, enjoyable to listen to and had folks in the audience bobbing their head — I think I even saw a few head nods from Martha Stewart!

7. “A Song For You” (produced by Stargate)

Popularized by Donny Hathaway, “A Song For You” is a new spin on the Leon Russell classic. The beginning starts slow and the crowd gasped when they realized what song she was singing. Whitney sounded incredible, nearly haunting and before you knew it the song turns into a club banger! Mr. Davis explained the song was recorded just the night before. Definitely one for those who loves Whitney’s club tracks.

Overall, the nine tracks that were played received a good response. The album definitely has the potential to be a hit. For Whitney, there is no such thing as a “comeback” — icons “don’t call it a comeback” then just jump back in the game whenever they are ready. One thing I do know is no one should expect 1985 Whitney. Artists evolve and it’s limiting when we trap performers in a particular box or era. The best piece about the tracks is that Whit has some grit to her voice, her vocals are still strong but she doesn’t mind getting a bit nasty with it. While the album isn’t finished, I believe folks will be pleasantly surprised.

PS. Clive Davis is 77 years-old and stood on that stage for nearly an hour, introducing Whitney, telling stories, making jokes and setting up each song! This is a man from the old school and knows how to work a project! Gotta give respect to Professor Davis! {Source}
I really can't wait for this one. Reports from the London session gave the album resounding praise too. Nippy is about to do the damn thing. More power to her!

The LP's first single 'Million Dollar Bill' is set to debut any day now...

Video Premiere: Beverly Knight - "Beautiful Night"...

MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE! BoA - Energetic!

It looks like Korean megastar BoA hasn't given up on her quest to crack the US market yet, with the singer now releasing her third single "Energetic" from her self-titled English debut album. The song is the follow up to "Eat You Up" and "I Did It For Love" which both failed miserably (most probably due to lack of promotion), so check out the Sean Garrett produced dance floor stomper below.

This is easily my favourite song from her hit-and-miss debut so I'm really glad to see a video for it. This didn't exactly have the budget and style of BoA's other two video's, but it's still fierce nonetheless. BoA knows to play on her strengths which is dancing, and frankly I could sit and watch her dance in front of a brick wall and I'd still be interested. She reminds me of Janet so much, like how Janet is so quiet and shy off stage, but once she performs she just goes hard and becomes a different person. Anyways I'd like to see her have some success in the States so hopefully something can happen for her.

UPDATE

Boa will re-release her album this September. It will feature new tracks, including one with Flo-Rida

Police arrest a patron at Rainbow Lounge
Texas Cops Celebrate Pride by Bashing Gays

News stories around the country are comparing it to the Stonewall Riots of 40 years ago that gave birth to the modern gay liberation movement. Ironically, it happened on the actual anniversary date and around the same time that the New York bar was raided. Only this time, it was in Fort Worth, Texas.

On June 28 around 1:00 a.m., police and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) agents entered the Rainbow Lounge in Fort Worth for what they said was a routine inspection for liquor-related violations and in the melee that followed, one man was hurt. Twenty-six-year-old Chad Gibson is still in intensive care with a serious head injury. What happened depends on who you talk to ...

Police say that patrons of the Rainbow Lounge made “sexually explicit motions” toward the officers, and one groped a cop’s crotch. Twenty people were pulled outside for questioning. Seven were arrested for allegedly being publicly intoxicated.

Patrons say that police officers were abusive and used excessive force. Todd Camp, who founded Q Cinema, Fort Worth’s LBGT film festival, told the Dallas Voice, “No one I saw appeared to be highly intoxicated, and the way they were choosing people just appeared to be random harassment. They were pretty violent in grabbing people, and one guy was shoved to the ground and handcuffed.”

“I have been in plenty of bars when the TABC checks happened, and this was not like anything I have ever seen before,” Camp added.

Lots of others confirmed what Camp said. Justin McCarty, who worked security for the bar, saw an officer throw Gibson to the ground. “It was just brutal,” he said.

Alison Egert watched officers throw Gibson against the wall and then the floor. “Here you have this gay man who looked like he weighed 100 pounds,” she said, “thrown to the floor with six cops on top of him. That’s when I started noticing that they were only arresting men, and they seemed to be targeting the smaller men.”

“The people in there were scared,” Egert said. “They were all getting out of their (police officers’) way. No one resisted arrest. They were singling out specific people, the men who seemed more effeminate. It just seems like it was a deliberate jab at the community.”

None of the eye witnesses saw any officers getting groped or being in any way sexually harassed. Even if they had been, it doesn’t justify beating a 26-year-old to the point that he’s fighting for his life.

In the aftermath of the incident, Police Chief Jeff Halstead is saying that everyone should “take a deep breath.”

A deep breath isn’t going to change the fact that Halstead and his officers have a lot of explaining to do.
