Janet Jackson made her first public appearance since the passing of her brother, Michael, at the 9th Annual BET Awards on Sunday.
A grief-stricken Janet was brought on stage by host Jamie Foxx. She appeared in all white and spoke a few words.
“My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful. To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family and he will forever live in our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for your love and support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much.”
Foxx and Ne-Yo closed the show with a rendition of the Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There.” New Edition opened with a medley of Jackson 5 songs and Ne-Yo sang “Lady in My Life.”
The King of Pop’s father, Joe Jackson, also made an appearance at the show, which was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Beyonce stunned the crowd earlier today at the Philadelphia show of her "I Am Tour" when she stopped the normal set list to pay tribute to the late Michael Jackson, performing his song "I Can't Help It" from his breakthrough album "Off The Wall". Check it out below.
Wow, that was absolutely amazing. Usually I don't feel much soul or emotion from Beyonce when she sings, talks, or performs, but I really felt her heart with this. I've always just thought of her as somebody who got pushed into singing and performing but doesn't really love music as a passion, so I was surprised that she chose "I Can't Help It" from his "Off The Wall" album, considering that it wasn't even a single. I guess everybody in America would know it though, but still, it was a good choice. "Off The Wall" is my favorite MJ album so it was definitely beautiful to be able to see Bey sing it in such an honest way. She sounded flawless, like her voice was a gift from God, and I'd even love to see her release a proper cover on a compilation or something. Watching this brings tears to my eyes and for once I saw Beyonce as human instead of a poor little rich girl, a dummy, or a diva. Music really can bring people together like nothing else, and that's why it's the greatest thing in the world! I love you Michael xox!

Michael Jackson's close friend Uri Geller has spoken out to Us Weekly about the king of pop's untimely death.
"I'm devastated. I just don't want to believe it," says Geller ""He is my best friend. I just can't believe."
Geller also told Sky News that he believed Jackson to be in fine health.
"He was in good shape. ... I'm not a doctor, but I can only assume he was under immense stresses and pressures, and you can ask any doctor, stress is a killer," he said. "The pressure of these concerts, putting under huge pressures, he was a perfectionist. That could have been what did it. But that's just my opinion."
Jackson was set to headline 50 sold-out shows at London's O2 Arena beginning in July, billed "This Is It" -- his final London performances.
"I think it was a mistake to target 50 shows. 3, 4, 5 maybe 10 shows is enough," said Geller. "He was healthy, aerobically fit. I remember him here in my house, and he wouldn't touch junk food. So now... to confront this devastating reality that Michael is dead is just... I want to wake up tomorrow and think this is a dream and that he is not dead."
Added Geller, "He was a happy man when fans were around - he drank their love. He loved what he did, but somewhere in his deep dark corners of his heart, he was a confused man and a lonely person. The reason was because nobody could understand him.
"He is in heaven now, a better place than us. God rest his soul." [SOURCE]
Gellar isn't the only one to speak out though, with one of Jackson's attorneys Brian Oxman telling CNN that he thought MJ was over-medicating.
"I talked to his family about it. I warned them. I said 'Michael is overmedicating' (and that) ... it's all going to break our hearts. It was a serious problem"
Oxman said Jackson was taking painkillers to deal with chronic problems related to old injuries, including a broken leg and fractured vertebrae.
But, asked to say who might have been enabling the overmedication he claims was happening, Oxman would not name names.
"I don't want to make finger-pointed of any kind" until a cause of death is determined, Oxman said. [SOURCE]
Buckle up everybody because this is only the tip of the iceberg. Can you imagine all the lies and truths that are about to come out about MJ? Every man and their dog will be trying to get some publicity from this and it's going to be extremely hard to separate fact from fiction. Will the autopsy finally reveal the secrets behind Michaels plastic surgery? Who will take his children? Is he even their biological father? Is he bankrupt? There are a lot of questions about Michael and his secretive life, which lets face it, we all want to know, but I hope he can be remembered for his talent and contribution to the arts first and foremost, and not all the controversy and tabloid scandals.
Janet Jackson's manager has just released the following statement on Jan's behalf following the sudden death of her older brother Michael earlier today.
Janet Jackson is grief stricken and devastated at the sudden loss of her brother. She is in pre-production for a movie and is flying immediately to California to be with her family.
Janet is currently working on Tyler Perry's latest film "Why Did I Get Married Too", as well as her new album with long time collaborators Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.
It's well known that Michael & Janet were the closest to one another out of all the Jackson siblings, being inseparable as children, and collaborating together on their 1995 hit "Scream."
This is so sad for Jan. I remember in one of the biographies that I have about Janet, it has this story were the interviewer went to speak to Michael when he was just getting big, and he bought Janet along to the interview even though she was still a kid then. He made the interviewer ask Jan the questions, then she had to rely the message to Michael, then he would tell her his answer and she would tell the interviewer! Supposedly it was because he kept being asked all these questions he didn't like, so if he did it through his sister it was easier to avoid answering things he didn't want and would throw the journalist off. Anyways my point was they were so close and shared many funny little things like that, and I remember reading that she used to follow him around the house all the time and look up to him when they were living together as children. They had their ups and downs over the years but she must really be feeling inconsolable at this point.
I thought I'd do a post where everybody could leave a comment with their favourite MJ moments, songs, or albums. I'm really upset about his death and concerned for his family, but I think we all need to think positively and celebrate everything that he's given music. Michael's talent was a gift from God and I'm relieved that now he'll be able to escape all the rumours and negativity that the media spread about him. Anyways check out my two selections below.
I chose "Ben" because not only was it his first number one hit, but it was like a sign of the greatness that was going to come. It's sung so beautifully and the lyrics make me think about him and how misunderstood he was.
The other song I chose is a little silly, but it's really sweet and sincere. "He's My Brother" was released by Michaels sister La Toya in 1989 for her album "Bad Girl". It's a great song and really celebrates him in a positive way. It's so a happy and joyful, but at the same time it's making me sad because I'm thinking about his family, especially Toy and Jan. Janet was the closest to Michael out of anyone so she must be inconsolable, but I'm trying not to think about that too much or I'll be too upset.
What was your favorite Michael Jackson moment or song?

true friends are friends that never leave you no matter how far away they are
fake friends are people that you might have known for a long time or just a little time
they are hard to explain they will fight with you about the slightest thing and then blame what they started
but true friends they are the best and will only fight if it is really big and are friends with you even if they tell you they arnt
fake friends can flick you off in an instant and not even care but true friends will cry about it all night long and try to be friends again no matter what
some people have many true friends but i warn them to watch out because a fake friend might be lurking inside them
i thought i had a true friend but i guess i was wrong
It has just been confirmed that "Giving Myself" will serve as the official third single from Jennifer Hudsons self-titled debut album. The Robin Thicke produced and penned ballad has recently been sent to Urban AC radio formats, but there's currently no news on a music video.
The news comes as a surprise since the Timbaland produced "Pocketbook" was previously announced as the third single, with reports even emerging that a video had been shot.
"Giving Myself" follows the successful "If This Isn't Love", which peaked at #5 on the R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart and #63 on the Hot 100, as well as performing extremely well on BET's 106 & Park and topping the urban adult airplay charts. Anyways check out Giving Myself below.
Damn, do you know how bad I was looking forward to "Pocketbook" being the next single? That's my jam! "Don't make me hit you with my pocketbook!" I guess being pregnant though she probably can't really film a video to the up-tempo, so they thought they'd drop another ballad and then if it picks up they might try film a really simple clip. It's a beautiful song so I'm not mad and I hope it does well. I love J-Hud!
It's been a long time but finally we have a new joint from R&B singer Tweet. Titled "It's You", which popped up earlier today on the "Life On Mars" mixtape. Tweet is currently working on her third studio album "Love, Tweet" which is set to feature production from Timbaland, Danja, and Novel, though the album has been in the works for years now and there's currently no release date.
Hmm, not bad. I'm loving the beat but it sound strikingly similar to another song but I can't put my finger on it. I'm not a mega Tweet fan but I do like her, I own her first two albums and I think she has her own style and vibe going on. Her soft & soulful vocals always stand out for me so I'm definitely looking out for that new album, though I'm sceptical as to whether it'll ever get released or not.
LeToya Luckett is preparing to release her new album "Lady Love" soon and now a new track from the project has leaked. Check out "I Don't Need You" below.
OMLetoya this is amazing. I love the way they keep the beat simple so that LeToya's vocals and lyrics do the talking. The song really tells a story and it builds so in the final chorus she really starts belting out. The song just has a lot of feeling and depth to it, and it's also really empowering which is good. LeToya's style actually reminds me of Keyshia Cole because you can really feel whatever she's singing and there's just a lot of realness to it. Every single track from "Lady Love" has been amazing and I really think we could be looking at one of the best R&B albums of the year.
A little while ago we got the very disappointing video to Beyonce's new single "Ego", and now we have the remix with Mr Ego himself Kanye West. The song is currently doing ok in the charts, sitting at #77 on the Hot 100 and #16 on the R&B/Hip-Hop singles so check it out below.
Three words - "Yawn, boring, NEXT!" I didn't think it was possible for this video to be even worse than it was last time, but somehow they managed and proved that Kanye is just as unnecessary in the music video as he is in the song. The video would've been good if Bey hadn't already done it in Single Ladies and a bit in Diva, but we've been there done that so move on. Oh and I have to mention that her curly hair looks like a filthy 10-year-old mop that you've left in the bucket too long and it's become matted and stuck together. I also don't like hearing Kanye rap about his big "ego" either, coz I just can't imagine him having a big one. I'm sorry but he looks like Joe average to me, he just doesn't look like somebody who's packin'. Anyways I can't wait for the "Sweet Dreams" clip though because I just know Bey will look stunning and hopefully she'll shut the music video game down again with it.

A couple of days ago I received an e-mail from somebody claiming to be close to the Knowles camp, telling me that Matthew has been making threats to BET, saying that if Letoya performs at the BET awards then Beyonce won't. I thought about posting it but because I didn't have any proof I decided not to, and instead I sent it over to the Destiny's Child Rumours blog who post a lot more rumour posts than I do. Well since I did that not one but TWO sources (one that works at BET) have confirmed to me that this is true, and now other websites have started running the story so I thought I'd publish the original e-mail for you all to see. I promised the person I wouldn't reveal certain things so forgive the censoring of the e-mail.
"I work for XXXXXXXX. I just want to share something with you because maybe you can help by spreading the word. So even though XXXX XXXX XXXXXX... I love LeToya Luckett. Now Matthew made XXXXX threaten BET to remove Beyonce from the BET Awards line-up if LeToya were to perform on that same stage that same night. It is sad to say but I think XXXXX will win over LeToya's management because Beyonce is a guarantee to bring the ratings up for the show. In business we have to deal with shady politics but this is going too far. All I want is both girls to perform. Between me and you the thing is that I'm sure of is that even if BET wouldn't bend over (which I doubt) he would get Beyonce out there at the last minute. He's just trying to intimidate BET. Anyway now you know, deal with this info the best way you can."
SMH. This doesn't surprise me one bit and I'm almost wishing I had run this as soon as I got it, but I only told a few people because I was waiting to get some more reliable sources to confirm it. Obviously we still don't know if this is 100% true, but I think it's for real. Matthew really is the sneakiest snake in the business and I'm so glad that Kelly finally woke up to herself and escaped his clutches. Matthew exploited his own daughter Beyonce at the expense of the other DC girls, and in my opinion he turned Bey into a soulless work-a-holic. This is really bad for Letoya and I hope now that this news is out that BET don't give in to his demands because Letoya is an amazing talent who deserves a chance to shine.
UPDATE
This rumour is 100% true. I just had direct contact with a 100% airtight source that confirmed it and much more. The stans will say I'm making this up but I'm putting my stamp on this, it's completely accurate.

R&B singer Mya has revealed via her Twitter account that she's been in the studio with 90's superstar turned has-been Sisqo.
The two were recording for Mya's upcoming sixth studio album which will be released independently via her own label Planet 9.
Mya is also working with former Bad Boy hitmaker Chucky Thompson, who back in the 90's was responsible for crafting hits for Biggie, Mary J Blige, Faith Evans, and Total.
As much as I want to laugh my motherfuckin' ass off at this I'm going to stay positive. I know this is a little "WASHED UP ALERT!" but look on the bright side, maybe Mya is just tryna bring back that 90's R&B sound that the game has been missing? Maybe she wants to give the new album an old school touch so she reached back in time and plucked out two of the decades biggest hitmakers? I respect that she's on the indie grind so I'm gonna put the haterade down because making jokes about this is just way too easy and I love Mya too much to do that.
Both Madonna and Beyonce have made this years Forbes Celebrity 100 list, which tallies the most powerful celebrities in the world based on earnings and media exposure, which includes television, online, radio, and overall press mentions.
Madonna came in at #3 with earnings of $110 million, mainly due to her Sticky & Sweet tour being the highest grossing tour of 2008 with $280 million. Contributing to her press points was her divorce from Guy Ritchie, affair with Alex Rodriguez, and her trouble in adopting a second African child.
Beyonce managed to come in one spot lower than Madge at #4 with earnings of $87 million. Although Queen Bey was ranked considerably lower for TV/Radio exposure and overall press, the diva was second on the web rankings, only coming in behind President Obama. Bey made her fortune from album sales, touring, her Dereon fashion line, and movies, but most of her income and exposure came from her product plugging with Nintendo, Armani, Cyrstal Geyser, General Mills, and Samantha Thavasa handbags.
Beyonce and Madonna were noticeably the only musicians in the top 10, with actress Angelina Jolie dethroning the reigning champion Oprah to take the top spot, making Jolie the most powerful celebrity in the world. The actresses rival Jennifer Aniston managed to place #7, one spot higher than ex-husband Brad Pitt who scraped in at #8.
I'm a little shocked that there were only two musicians in the top 10, but out of anybody Madge and Bey are probably the most deserving considering how much they work. They're always doing something to keep their names in the press and money on their pockets so it doesn't surprise me. It's unfair that Bey was lower for press points though, she's only lower because she's black. Mainstream media never gives love to black celebrities, especially not international media, and it proves it by having her place second on the web rankings.
I can't believe Angelina made number one though. Just like Halle Berry she's one of the most overrated actresses in the world with a string of box office duds and she's only on the list because she's a tabloid sensation. It's funny that Jennifer Aniston beat Brad Pitt though!
I know we've all been waiting for this like crazy so I'm gonna cut right to the chase. Here's David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland "When Love Takes Over" official video!
Stunning! I love Kelly and she looked so beautiful in this, you never see her shaking her ass in next to nothing like a ho, she's just always classy. I liked how they set it at the beach and the storyline was everybody getting ready for the party, and even though not that much happened in the clip it was better than I expected for todays economic climate which is always producing cheap ass video's. My only complaint is that David Guetta was in it, I mean I know it's his song but we all just want Ms Kelly ok?
It takes a village to raise a child, not the Village People. We seem to think this type of newly flaunted and expressed freedom can only come from such liberal and understanding parents,”The Gays” or lack of fathers in the home. The level that this gayness is turning out more and more leads us to believe the parents must encourage it.
If that is the case, It’s the End of Days As We Know it..
This ish is so sad. DMX might as well just admit that he prefers to be locked up than walk around as a free man. Anyone who continuously commits crimes every five seconds is looking to keep his prison cell ready for his return.
You knew it was coming: 8 days after DMX was released from jail, he pled guilty to another crime — and he’s about to find out if he’ll have to make another triumphant return to Arizona’s Tent City Jail.
DMX — who originally pled not guilty — copped a plea and pled guilty to attempted aggravated assault (a felony) back on May 22 — after an incident in which he verbally threatened guards at Tent City back in February.
The serial law breaker is due back in Maricopa County court for sentencing on Monday.
DMX has some serious issues and probably needs to be in a mental institution rather than a prison. SMH
